Does a 1gb video card use 1gb of ram on your motherboard?

Im getting the xfx nvidia gt520 1gb really soon and i wanted to know if the card uses ram that is on the mobo. I have 2gb of ram and if i install this card will that mean i only have 1gb of ram to use?|||If the video card is dedicated, then it uses it's own RAM.

If it says "1 GB of RAM shared, etc" then it uses your RAM.|||1 gig of video ram is specific to the video card and not inclusive of the ram you install on the motherboard if you have a 8 gb ram system and 1 gig video card you will still have 8 gb ram for functionality and 1gb dedicated to video functionality and graphics processing hope this helps|||No. VRAM is dedicated for use only by the GPU
